The Bas-St-Laurent region ,often forgotten to the advantage of its neighbor (The Gaspésie region) deserves all the attention of travelers. Indeed, the contact with the sea offers breathtaking landscapes. Be sure to visit L'Isle Verte (Green Island) the only island of the region to be occupied year-round. The southern part of this territory is nicknamed the sweet country of lakes, because of its huge lakes, which makes several miles long. This area of the country is filled with generous forests and rivers that offer to visitors remarkable sites. Rimouski is the largest city of the region and it opens wide on the St-Lawrence river. You can stroll on the long promenade managed along the coast and observe the Saint-Barnabé island that is close from there.
