Facing Quebec City, this region spreads along the St.-Lawrence river. By its geographical situation , the Chaudière-Appalaches region allows outdoors amateurs to practice their favorite activities as much as they want to. The archipelago that faces the city of Montmagny has more than 20 islands and islets. The most important are La Grosse-Île (Île de la Quarantaine that was a quarantine site for thousand of European immigrants in the last century), l'Île aux Grues and l'Île aux Oies (Geese Island). Therefore the city of Montmagny offers many cruises that will for sure bring up the adventurer in each of us. A bit farther along, you can observe the bird colonies on the islands were thousands of white gees come every spring and autumn. In Pointe-aux-Père be sure to visit the museum which recounts the tragic shipwreck of the "Empress of Ireland" in 1914.
